Sunday Pause (Paws): Cats

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and for today take a look at how great cats are!

I love all animals, but this past week cats seemed to take the spotlight.

I‘ve been reading the book “The World According to Bob”, the second book by James Bowen about him and his cat Bob. I lost track of the book for a while and had been searching for it looking in and under everything. I even looked in the fridge & freezer in case I put it there absentmindedly. Well I found it…right on my night table shelf by my bed. It had been there the whole time, but that’s another story. 🙂 Anyhow I picked up where I left off and the chapter was about James having a really bad cough. Bob knew when something was wrong and would lay on James and watch over him. James wrote about how he heard cats purrs can help heal and how cats can sense illness and even death. Bob seemed to. Later after James was on medication that he was prescribed for the cough, Bob jumped up on the bed, checked him out, and then jumped back down. He knew James was on the mend.

Thinking about a cat looking after his human like this just melts my heart.

In my Facebook Newsfeed I saw a video about cats. It’s about all of the amazing benefits there are in having one around. Take a look.

Cats are amazing!

I love taking as many pics as I can of Cino so I can capture her personality. She makes me laugh with some of her silliness like when she was playing through the kitchen chair.

Cats are silly!

So much joy, but then sadly, I also read about a cat named Louie this week that was fighting for his life because he was locked in a room for three days with no food or water. By the time he was found, he’d developed hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver) and acute kidney failure. He was so jaundiced, his naturally blue eyes were neon green. After reading this I couldn’t get him out of my mind. Then later that night I read that he passed away. I didn’t know Louie, I only read about his situation hours before, but I was so heartbroken.

Cats, and animals in general, have every right to be on this earth the same as we do. How some people treat them is sometimes too much to bear. I find myself hugging Cino and apologizing for the treatment of her fellow animals. But whenever I am feeling down, just as we have learned cats can do, I feel better just being around Cino. Animals are so precious and, to me, they seem like angels sent from heaven.

I try to keep my Sunday posts uplifting and in my opinion cats (and all animals) are so uplifting. But I really want to take a pause for a moment to honor Louie. Because all life matters.

Rest in the arms of Jesus, Louie, where you’ll never
have to worry about being abused again.

    1. Animals Are Feeling Beings Too Post author

I saw this post on the RedRover Facebook Page which is where the RedRover Readers program I am implementing at work came from. They also do other things and one of those things is helping advocate for animals in domestic violence situations. Sadly, Louie was from one of those situations. It sounds like it was the mom and the kids that got help to save him from the dad who locked him in the room. 😦 If I said what’s in my mind about that, it wouldn’t be pretty.

It hurts too much, and it’s pretty ungodly to say what animal cruelty invokes in me! I literally have to repent of hatred over and over again just to keep from being bitter towards those who are truly, deeply twisted and cruel.
I do believe God has a very specific kind of hell for people like that.
Nonetheless….the Sweet boy is home now, and he will stand as testimony to Jesus against the man, and for those who helped and loved him.
I believe people need to realize that.
For every creature and human you hurt, kill, love,help…..when they go home, they will give testimony to God, of what they received from you.
Thanks for the reminder, sweet lady.
You go hug your Little one….And tell her…
Every time she sings her song, even the very angels in heaven stop, just to listen for a while. And that is true of every animal….And every song they sing too! 💖🐾🙏 Keep up the great work! 🌹
    Be Blessed! 🐾 Andrea.
    Ps…yes…that means Dogs too! 💋💋🐶🐶😊
