Oh Deer

I told myself I wasn’t going to sit at the computer tonight and that I was going to just lie under the covers and rest. I tried.

Oh deer, I’m wiped out.

I haven’t been feeling good for a number of days now, I hardly slept last night due to a severe thunderstorm, and work has been really crazy busy. I came home from work early and planned to lie on the couch under my blanket and take a nap but no luck. I did rest for a long time on the couch and even had a hot cup of tea. But I started getting bored & restless. So here I am.

I have been having fun playing around with the animal paintings and making them into different cartoon type images according to what I am writing about. You’ve probably noticed since recently I have made an image for “National Dog Day”, “Happy Cat Month”, an “It’s a Jungle Out There” post, “It’s Raining Cats & Dogs” post and now this. I enjoy it and I hope to improve my skills as I go. It allows me to have some variety in my posts but still keeps animals in it.

But I am truly wiped out and need to keep this short because I am going to get back to resting. “America’s Got Talent” will help keep me entertained for the night. And of course I’ll have snuggle time with Cino!

I‘m curious…do you push yourself when you aren’t feeling good to make it through the day? Do you feel guilty for needing time off of work to stay home when you’re not feeling well? Or do you allow yourself to rest?

your graphic is darling! Just darling! Hoping you feel better soon. I “work” from home but for 26 years I worked in advertising with deadlines and high pressure to increase sales. I don’t know how you handle blogging and working full time. Blogging is a full time job even when we don’t post daily. When I did work outside the home I DID take mental health days but had to be careful not to abuse them. As for blogging, I have been blogging since 2009, October will be my 9th year….I am probably going to wrap it up after year 10 …..I have already cut back on the amount I post because after a while it DOES become tedious. You have to take care of YOU first.

When I was younger, I did have guilty feelings about calling in sick. Probably because I was raised by parents who believed one had to be “productive” at all times, that anything less was laziness and unacceptable. As I got older, however; and realized that individual persons were of no consequence to the higher-ups, I said “the hell with it” and started taking better care of myself. The work would get done or ignored whether I was there or not. Then we were excessed. And I retired early from the workforce. And I’ve never regretted not finding another job.
