Sunday Pause (Paws): An Animal Is An Animal

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and take a moment to think about animals…really.

I recently read about a day created by The Anglican Society for Animals calledAnimal Welfare Sunday” which is today. It looks like they encourage churches to speak about animals and God’s intent for them.

I think this is great and I wish there were more discussions and sermons in the church about this.

“God gave us dominion over animals, but I truly believe the human race has misinterpreted this and that he, along with us, is grieving over the treatment of animals in our society.”
(A quote from my ABOUT page)

I have always loved animals. I grew up with an adorable black toy poodle and if friends or family had pets I could always be found wherever they were. But it wasn’t until I took the time to learn about how our society treats & uses other animals that I made some important lifestyle changes.

do you love animals or just pets?-aafbt

An animal is an animal whether they are a dog, a cat, a rabbit, a cow, an orangutan, an elephant, a pig, a chicken, a….well you get the point.

It’s no different than a human is a human. Yet we all come in different shapes, sizes, and colors.

Those who think about and fight for the welfare of animals are few. But yet it is so important. They are ALL (sentient) living, feeling beings created by a loving God. Many are suffering and to ignore this and turn our backs on this and say “they’re just animals“, I believe is so wrong. I wish we didn’t have to fight for something that is already a God given right to animals.

To change an animal’s world, it takes you, it takes me, it takes WE.

I wish you a Happy Sunday and if you’re blessed to have a pet, go give them a hug & a kiss. Then say a prayer for the other animals that are being treated wrongly.

Here’s to more “Animal Welfare Sundays.”

ok I love animals…but….I kill bugs (wait, those are insects)…..I hate snakes…(reptiles)…….and others…but……aren’t they all animals? I guess just like I don’t love every human being on the planet (sorry, but I don’t)………I guess I don’t love every single animal on the planet either. That’s called being honest.

I get what you’re saying. I don’t like every single human and I am certainly not a fan of bugs & snakes. But I don’t wish suffering on them either. If there is a bug in the house and one “squishes” it I do feel that it should be done quick so they don’t suffer. In this post I’m talking about the daily suffering & cruelty inflicted upon animals by the hands of humans (the focus on animals). Thanks for your comment and honesty.

My mom goes to an Episcopal church, and the second Sunday of every month they have a blessing of the animals service, and they also have a blessing of the animals service in honor of St. Francis of Assisi’s Day, which they held today.
