I WOULD RATHER

The circus is in town
Everyone is going there
The kids would have a good time
But I would rather teach them to care

Tricks that are sure to amaze
Entertaining the crowd all night
It’s an event for the whole family
But I would rather teach them what’s right

Clowns with big feet & a red nose
Elephants, lions, tigers, & bears
It’s quite the variety show
But I would rather teach them what’s fair

If you pay close attention
The animals are sending a message you can’t miss
The fun is only one sided
I would rather teach them this

Sacrificing the life of a being
Because the power is on our hands
Is not the message I want to send
I’d rather teach them to take a stand

A lesson of compassion for all
And that they can make a choice
To not support animals in entertainment
I’d rather teach them to be their voice
