Humans and animals, we share this earth together.
But as an animal advocate you’re judged. You’re judged because people think you care more about them than you do humans. Or that their worth is insignificant. Or that they don’t feel pain. To some people they are “just” animals. But to God they are HIS creatures, just as we are, and he never intended for the abuse that is afflicted upon them every day by humans.
As far as the caring more about animals than humans, it’s not about that. It’s about the fact that animals are being abused and are suffering and somebody has to help them.
I heard a story about two young guys who cut off a dog’s ears and then took a selfie. My blogging buddies, I couldn’t believe this disturbing picture of this poor dog laying there bleeding tied up crouched down scared to death with these two guys standing over him with his cut off ears in their hands and a knife in the other hand. It’s hard to look at that and not become angry at humans.
I believe God entrusted us to care for animals and if we don’t speak up, step in, and fight for them, we are not doing what God has asked us to do. Whether you believe in God or not, there is still empathy. An animal is a living, FEELING being that does not deserve abuse or suffering.
I can honestly say that I believe that animals would never do this to us (abuse/torture). Unless of course it was just acting out of natural instinct/survival (as they do in this fallen world). But to do it just to be cruel, just to hurt & torture, just for (teenage boys) entertainment, NO…an animal would not do this.
So, do we sit by and let two young guys go around cutting off the ears of an innocent dog? We do if we don’t do anything about it. We do if we don’t speak up and fight for them. Sorry to be so blunt, but if you have been following me for a while and/or have read my “About” page, you know this is why I started this blog…to help animals. You can read more about the case of the dog who got his ears cut off here. I hope you will consider signing the petition. It doesn’t matter where in the world this happened, it happened.
So, as far as humans vs. animals, I know God wants me to love them both. I adore animals, but as far as humans, sometimes they are making it very, very hard.
I agree with you and I just signed. Let us hope for justice and I do believe in Karma, I know this works too.

Thanks Irene! This story really got me. I am having such a hard time getting this one off of my mind. I cry every time my mind goes to it.

All kids should learn respect for others, both humans & animals, then we could avoid such terrible things.

Exactly! This is why I took a “RedRover Readers” course last year. I am using what I learned to implement empathy towards animals at the Preschool I work at.

This sound really good. If families also knew, how to behave to animals, it would be recommended, that all kids had at least one animal in their childhood, which would teach them respect for other livings.

This is true. Families/parents are their example. If they go against the belief of treating animals compassionately, then it makes it hard. But one day children do think for themselves! Thank God! It’s like when we tell children not to hit and they tell us their mom told them if someone hits them to hit back. Yikes! Then we have a talk about how this is actually not ok. poor kids, they get confused too.

I’m in total agreement with you. I’m signing the petition the moment I’m done posting this comment. Let’s hope this brings about a much needed change. The moment an animal turns against a human, the entire world goes nuts screaming revenge. But not even half that number is willing to speak up for the unfortunate beings that can’t speak for themselves.

This is really disturbing. You are right, it doesn’t matter where it happens as long as it is happening. Many people say we have to stop animal cruelty because it’s the first stepping stone for serial killers and all kind of abusers, which is not entirely true and kind of minimizes the act somehow (or at least, that’s my impression). Animal cruelty is horrendous on it’s own. Period.
I signed, shared and contributed money for it to reach more people.
