It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and realize what’s most important.
There has been a lot of tragedy lately. It certainly has been bringing me down a bit. But I know there is also a lot of beauty in the world. A few examples of this beauty I feel are shown in the two pictures below I took of a sunset and a full moon.
When I’m feeling a bit emotional, besides recognizing the beauty in the world, I like to express myself through writing. I wrote a new poem I hope you enjoy.
Realizing What’s Most Important
Going about this thing called life
Keeping busy all of the time
Gotta do this and gotta do that
There is a lot going on in the mind
When young a whole life ahead
At least that’s what we think
Then one day at a concert
Everything changes in a blink
The heart has a new ache
Faces are full of tears
Realizing what’s most important
Reexamining the person in the mirror
Loved ones put to the side
Got that list to complete
When done there will be time
But now the body feels too beat
Plans to connect tomorrow
At least that is the intention
A phone call saying they’re gone
Now a pain too hard to mention
The heart has a new ache
Faces are full of tears
Realizing what’s most important
Reexamining the person in the mirror
Making all sorts of plans
In this life that is a race
A home in a corner of the world
A piece of the puzzle put in place
Working hard and playing hard
Hoping nothing will change
Along comes a natural disaster
Now life must be rearranged
The heart has a new ache
Faces are full of tears
Realizing what’s most important
Reexamining the person in the mirror
There truly is a lot of beauty
All around us in every day
But with a life that is so busy
It is so often kept at bay
Slow down and look around
Don’t keep saying things can wait
Anything could happen tomorrow
And then it will be too late
Life can cause hearts that ache
And cause faces full of tears
But eyes may open to what’s important
Starting with the person in the mirror

As I mentioned, there has been a lot of tragedies lately. Maybe you’re one of the people affected by one of them or maybe you’re going through something else. Whatever the circumstance, I hope you’ll take the time to see what’s truly important!
Happy Sunday!
Wish you a relaxed Sunday in comfortable company of Cino, LeeAnn 🙂

Your poem is beautifully expressive. And you made me think of Michael Jackson’s “The Man in the Mirror.”

I thought of that too. 🙂

Yes, there has been some unexplained sad occurrences afoot lately. It’s not always easy to smile when you feel like sobbing, even if only for those affected. However, adding our smile may bring a ray of sunshine, our prayers an additional ray of hope.
At times like these, I always say: ‘Peace Be Still.’ This helps me to stay open, and on the lookout for the positive.

We do need to look for the positive. Today at church our pastor suggested a “Grateful Journal” which I have done before. It is proven to make you less stressed, more relaxed, healthier, happier, sleep better, etc. I think I will be starting one again real soon.

thanks for this wonderful post! I was sooo down last week and I am certain that 99.9% of it was due to the Vegas shootings. Your poem was just great!

So glad you enjoyed my poem. It is straight from my heart & emotions! I have been pretty emotional and down myself and I know its because of all of these going on. Need to start that grateful journal, as my pastor suggested today, to lift my spirits.
