U.S. Animal Protection Laws…We Need More Green

Here is where the United States is in the matter of “Animal Protection Laws.” As you can see from the map below, we need more green! This map is showing the United States, but there is work to be done for animals everywhere. Do you know what your current laws are?

If you have been following my blog for a while or if you read my “About” page you know the main purpose of my blog is to advocate for animals. Animals are at our mercy in this world, so we need to defend them and be their voice against those who harm them. There are many ways to do that. You can spread the word, sign petitions, & write letters to name a few. No-one will pay attention and nothing will change unless people speak up.

I went to the Renaissance Festival a few summers ago and I could not get the elephant I saw there off of my mind. I wrote a post about it: Elephants In Entertainment. I emailed the Renaissance Festival directly about this. As you will see in the comments section of that post, another blogger mentioned contacting the regional office. That was a great idea. So, if there is a Renaissance Festival near you still using elephants, contact them and let them know you do not support that.

You can also write letters to the editor of your local newspaper on various animal welfare issues. Here is an article I wrote that was published a few years ago (zoom in for more legibility).

I encourage you to find out where the animal protection laws are in your area and help make a change. Just take a look at your pet and take a moment to stop & think, if it weren’t for you providing them a good home, they could be in the hands of an animal abuser.
