I was asked today if having a cat is easy. It made me think of how I always hear from others how cats don’t need much care or attention.
I have a cat. Let me tell you a bit about her. My cat follows me around. She loves to be near me, talk to me, and play with me. When I come home she greets me at the door. She loves kisses, hugs, tummy tickles, and being pet on the head. She gets a prescription joint gel for tummy inflammation and pumpkin to help bowel movements. I brush her teeth every week and give her an oral care gel a few times a week. She gets three different kinds of food, has a filtered water fountain and a bowl of water. Her fountain needs weekly cleaning. Her litter box is scooped everyday and emptied, cleaned, and gets new litter every six weeks. She gets combed weekly and annually I have to fight with her to get her into her carrier to go for her physical. So…………….I wouldn’t say it is easy, nor would I say they don’t need much attention.
I think it is all in your perspective. Providing food and a litter box isn’t all they need…it’s just the bare minimum.
Cats are lower-maintenance than dogs but I wouldn’t say they were easy. If they don’t have heath issues then maybe, but if they do then it can be quite complicated. And if they are complete psychopaths like mine, that adds an extra layer of complexity. 🤣

But I bet he/she is worth it even if they are a psychopath. 🙂
