It’s Sunday ! Time to kick back, relax, and wish a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to those in heaven.
Losing a loved one…nothing is harder.
I just got together with a friend who lost her dog that she had for 15 1/2 years. I often hear from people that they know I will understand. It’s sad that not everyone can understand how a pet is family and losing them can be as devastating as the loss of a human.
This coming Tuesday is my sister’s birthday. It will be her second birthday in heaven. She would have been 55 years old. I still have to pinch myself and ask if she is really gone. But instead of feeling overwhelmed by sadness, I am going to celebrate her.
The image I made below is for all of us celebrating a loved ones (human and animal) birthday in heaven. 
It doesn’t matter if it’s a human or animal loved one, the loss is overwhelming.
I saw a post not too long ago about a guy who has continued a tradition of sitting with his buddy and having a beer every Friday night. His buddy passed away but he brings a chair with and sets it up right in front of his grave.
Here is a short poem I wrote…
The pain is real because you are gone
I have no choice but to carry on
I know one day we will meet again
So I’ll celebrate with memories until then
My tears will turn into confetti that I’ll throw
Up to you in the sky as far as they’ll go

I think being able to celebrate instead of just crying is a sign of some healing.

I still remember my dog that died too young from cancer. It’s been 8 years this year, and I still think of her.
Being able to celebrate, instead of crying, is truly healing.

Our pets are never forgotten. So sorry for the loss. I’m sure you think about some great memories with your dog in the time you had.

You have a great attitude, LeeAnn. I cannot even imagine a loss of a family member, a pet, or a friend without profound grief. And I agree, a celebration must include a celebration of life when we sustain a loss.
