It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and enjoy the simple things in life.
This Sunday I would like to share a poem called “Slow Dance” written by a terminally ill young girl. It is absolutely beautiful and well said. A great reminder for us all!
SLOW DANCE
Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight? Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.
Do you run through each day on the fly?
When you ask, “How are you?” Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed,
With the next hundred chores running through your head?
You’d better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.
Ever told your child, we’ll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die,
Cause you never had time to call and say, “hi.”
You’d better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere,
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift…. thrown away.
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower.
Hear the music.
Before the song is over.
Awesome, wasn’t it? I know I get caught up in the race of life.
I was just having a conversation with someone about how I am just finishing up a week off of work and how I only accomplished a few things on my “list.” We all have that never-ending list, don’t we? I felt like time just flew by and each project took longer than I wanted it to. I didn’t take the time to ENJOY my time off or really relax. Can I have another week please? 🙂
I hope you will take some time today to do what you enjoy. Maybe a good nap!
Happy Sunday!
Also, please take a pause to consider your pets safety during fireworks celebrations. See Safety For Your Pets During Fireworks. Pass on the tips.
A lovely post, LeeAnn, and a beautiful and needed reminder.
If possible, would you please thank the young authoress of this touching poem for me, and let her know that I found it beautiful, and that I am praying for her? I love her resolve and her courage!
