Sunday Pause (Paws): What Would Jesus Post?

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back and relax.

This is a bit more serious type post than the usual “light” posts I try to do on Sundays. But when I write posts the ideas usually come from something that happened the previous week.

It started from last Sundays sermon at church that was titled “What Would Jesus Post?” It got me thinking about how there is so much negativity and ugliness out there on social media. There is also a lot of negativity and ugliness in the world. Of course there is good too. But often the bad is focused on more than the good as I find the news is, which is why I do not watch news. We are bombarded with messages that put fear in us, make us worry, feel angry, and so on.

As my pastor said the world is actually suppose to be a preview of what’s to come. We are not suppose to live as if this is all there is until the world ends. We are to live heaven on earth now. So what will heaven be like? No more pain, fear, fighting, abuse, illness, and so on. OK…so we can’t make ALL that happen now but we can do our part to try to live our lives as God intended. We can practice loving one another and loving dominion over the earth and the animals. When we do that we bring a little bit of heaven to earth.

My recent post, Why I Am A Vegetarian looks at how farm animals are treated today. I truly believe if people actually took the time to find out what is happening to animals before they become “meat in the supermarket” they would reconsider what they are eating.

We have a “head in the sand” society when it comes to animals. What we see is the “laughing cow” and “happy cow” type commercials for companies selling their products. What we don’t see is the cruelty going on to the animals to create those products. Continue reading
