It’s Independence Day in the U.S. and for most that means celebrating with family & friends, having a BBQ, and setting off fireworks!
But did you know that many animals are terrified of fireworks? To them it’s like the apocalypse. Wildlife become disoriented, get killed from running & panic, and lose their homes & family because they can’t find their way back. Many pets face the same fate as wildlife if they are not watched closely. They just want to find whatever escape they can.

Some things you can do to help your pets during fireworks are…
- Keep them home and inside.
- Provide a safe space for them such as access to under the bed, a pet bed with blankets, a place for them to hide.
- Turn on music or the tv to help drown out the fireworks (but not so loud that the volume causes them stress).
- Be sure they cannot escape from fear & panic through a window or door.
- If you can, stay home with them.
I hope you and your pets have a safe & enjoyable holiday!
