As we head into this Easter weekend, I wanted to share a recipe that would be perfect for your celebration. This is an easy recipe that you prepare the night before and just throw in the oven the next day. It is SO good!!!
(Sorry I don’t have a picture. I’ll have to take one next time I make it)
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup light brown sugar (may want to only use 3/4 cup)
1 Teaspoon cinnamon
12 slices white bread
5 eggs well beaten
1 1/2 cups milk
Directions
Melt butter in 9 x 13 baking pan
Stir in brown sugar & cinnamon
Place bread slices in double layer over sugar mixture
Beat eggs & milk together and pour over bread slices
Cover and let stand in refrigerator overnight
Next A.M. uncover and bake in preheated oven 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes
Cut into squares and serve with fresh fruit, syrup, or sugar
When you pull the french toast out of the oven it looks as if they are dry. Just scoop a piece of french toast out with a spatula and flip it over onto a plate. You will see the cinnamon, sugar, and butter mixture, like a syrup, covering the french toast. Mmmmm!!!
If you decide to make it, let me know how it turns out. I would love to hear if you liked it. 🙂
Also, just an fyi…there are a few recipes on my “Vegetarian Challenge” Page. I plan to add recipes every now & then, so keep checking back. If you have a great vegetarian recipe you’d like to share with me and possibly to add to my recipe page, please let me know.
