Daily Prompt: Volunteer. It’s Hard to Find the Best Fit

via Daily Prompt: Volunteer

Volunteering comes in many forms. Of course, since I am animal person, my first thought is volunteering to help animals. But that has always been a challenge for me.

If I were to volunteer at a Humane Society, I would cry seeing all the animals waiting for a new home or waiting on a worse fate. I looked into volunteering at a zoo and then decided I couldn’t stand seeing these animals in captivity. I thought about visiting nursing homes with dogs as therapy, but when I tried it I realized it was not for me. One of the elderly women there had told me they wouldn’t let her have her dog at the nursing home. She was so concerned about her dog that I went to the desk and asked them about it. They said she didn’t have a dog. The elderly lady said she did have a dog and that they just wouldn’t listen to her. I felt so uncomfortable and didn’t know what to think.

 The tale about Cletus

cletus-the-dog
Cletus was a senior dog that was abandoned in a park. My first reaction was to be pretty upset with the person who did this, but then I read the full story.

Sunday “Paws” to “Claws.” If you haven’t seen my post from last night, please check it out here and please share your thoughts with me on declawing.

Declawing a Cat

One of my “Tuesday Tales” sparked quite a conversation with myself and a few other bloggers. The post was about my cat, Cino, and our first weeks together.

Here is the part of the post that got the conversations going:

“The next few weeks would turn out to be a pretty rough beginning for us. I had to take her to the veterinarian to catch up on some vaccinations and because she was sick. She needed to be given medication for the next 10 days (poor thing). Then I went to give the paperwork from the veterinarian to the apartment manager. She gave them back to me and said she needed to be declawed in the back. What?!” Continue reading

This Tuesday’s Tale

This is the tale of Charlee.

Charlee is 8 months old. She had a family and a home. Sadly, one day when Charlee was in the backyard of her home, she somehow got out and into the street, and a car hit her.

We don’t know the entire back-story. How she got out of the backyard or how much the surgery would cost. What we do know is her family could not afford the surgery Charlee required, so they brought her to a shelter.

At the shelter, she received the necessary surgery; however, they could not save her back right leg.

A dumpster is for trash, right?
Well tell that to some people.

dumpster

This is the tale of Jack.

It was a school day. Same morning routine…brush your teeth, eat breakfast, get dressed, kiss your parents and off to school he goes. He went out the same door and through the parking lot and pass the dumpster as he always did. Only this time he heard something from within the dumpster. It was a little dog.

Sunday Pause (Paws)

Does anyone remember this cartoon? One of my favorites!

Fred, Wilma, Barney, Betty, Pebbles, Bamm Bamm, and let’s not forget, Dino!

Three things I remember about Dino their dinodog; he was purple, a very large pet, and he always knocked over Fred when he came home! 🙂

It’s Sunday, a day to relax! So whether you remember the show or don’t even know what the show is, kick back, press play, and enjoy the song “Let The Sunshine In” sang by Pebbles and Bamm Bamm. (I never realized it had such a great message.)

Three things about my cat, Cino, are; she doesn’t like to be picked up, she likes to sleep completely under blankets on the bed, on the couch, and on the floor, & she hides under the table when it’s time to brush her teeth.

Here she is hiding under the table while I am trying to coax her out with poultry flavored toothpaste.

The Test of Patience and Perseverance

via Daily Prompt: Test

The word “test” can be thought of in so many contexts. Here are my thoughts on test as I feel they relate to my current journey.

I started this blog as one of my assignments when I was back in school for Web Design. So this was one of my tests in learning to customize a template.

I didn’t post on a regular basis until just this past August. I have been testing different content on my blog to see what people are most interested in. I feel my patience has been tested in the time and dedication it takes in learning how to connect with other bloggers and in getting a new blog introduced out there in blogging world. (You mean I can’t have immediate over night success!)

Do You See Double (maybe even triple)?

double-photo-challengeThis post is part of “Thursday’s Special: Double”

I love this photo of my cat, Cino, showing her reflection in her water fountain. I don’t know if she noticed herself, but I took notice of a great photo moment.

It is VERY important that our cats get enough water. Research shows that most don’t. I have this water fountain to hopefully help with that.

Cats love running water. Think about how much they love to go in your sink and catch the water coming out of the faucet.

Consider getting your cat their very own fountain. It could help with their overall health!
