This Tuesday’s Tale: Remembering Lisa

This is a bit of a different Tuesday Tale. It’s about a human being, but it’s also about a dog she loved.

Our family received some devastating news this past weekend. My sister passed away at only 53 years old. Her name was Lisa.

We are still on an emotional roller coaster and still have the funeral to come. I considered skipping this Tuesday’s Tale post, but writing is a healing thing for me, an outlet.

My sister was very sick, although her death was still unexpected. She had a hard time taking care of herself, let alone a dog. But when her friend would visit she would bring this little dog with. The dog would stay with my sister often while the family had various things going on and it seems Lisa had fallen in love with this little dog named Eli.

Sunday Pause (Paws): A Pause for Healing

It’s Sunday! A time for kicking back, relaxing and taking a break from it all.

I am going to keep this post short & sweet. Our family is going through something right now. It is a sad time for us. I do plan to share about it in an upcoming “Tuesday Tale.” So basically…

Another week has gone by
and I simply want to say,
Be sure to take a pause
and enjoy your Sunday!

One Lovely Blog Award

https://daisymae2017.files.wordpress.com/2017/07/blog-award.jpg

Hello all! I was nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award by Crystal from Welcome To Crystal’s Site (Originally Country Living). This is the first nomination for a blogger’s award for me, so I am not exactly sure what this is all about. It seems that it is bloggers recognizing each other and letting them know that you enjoy and appreciate their blog. So if I have it right, then thank you Crystal. I appreciate it.

Many of you know that I started this blog as a project for school while earning my Web Design Certificate. After I finished school I didn’t continue with blogging very regularly, I think mainly because I was so sick of being on a computer (I was on it at work and then at night for school for a few years), but then one day I realized that maybe I was onto something.

I have always considered myself to be, I guess you could say, lost in this world. Never quite figuring out what I wanted to do, but I always dreamt it would be something with animals. For me it wasn’t to be a veterinarian, a zookeeper or anything like that. I knew it was some kind of advocacy; fighting and standing up for animals. I just couldn’t figure it out. That’s when I realized my blog could be something. While it isn’t a “job”, it is a way for me to do what I love; to help animals, spread the word, and connect with other animal lovers. This Tuesday’s Tale is about a book called “Will’s Red Coat.” It is a true story about a senior dog that was given up and needed a home desperately. Tom Ryan, the author of “Will’s Red Coat” kept watch on social media what was happening with Will until one day he decided he was going to give him the home he needed.

He knew he was going to get a senior dog, but he never expected what he saw when he arrived to meet Will. He was thin, frail, almost blind, deaf, and scared of everything. Out of that fear he continually tried to bite Tom.

Tom drove quite a ways to get Will and on the ride back as he looked at Will, he questioned whether he was doing the right thing, mainly out of concern for Will. He wondered if it would be better if he was put out of his misery. Continue reading

The Tale of Rocky and His Rescue From the Woods

rocky-from-webThe Animal Rescue Site

With fireworks soon to be going off all around, I thought it fitting to share this story about a senior dog who went missing after fireworks last year.

Rocky, a senior dog, was frightened by fireworks and ran off into the woods. His family had been searching for him for days when some loggers found him. Continue reading

Safety For Your Pet During Fireworks

Do your Fourth of July plans include protecting your pet?

Whether you are celebrating the Fourth of July or another holiday or celebration where there are fireworks, it is extremely important to consider the safety of your pet.

Animals do not enjoy the sound of fireworks. In fact, they can be pretty terrifying for many animals.

This Tuesday’s Tale: Cino and the Vet Appointment

Since this Tuesday was Cino’s appointment at the vet, I thought I would share how it went in a storybook kind of way for this Tuesday’s Tale.

There once was a cat named Cino
Who has a mom that loves her so
She is more than just an animal
But a family member don’t you know?

Play, eat, cuddle, & love
This is a day with her cat
She is more than just an animal
Oh, she is so much more than that! Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): Cino Going Back to the Vet

cino-looking-up

It’s Sunday! This Sunday I wanted to ask if you’ll take a break from the busyness and once again say a prayer for Cino.

Some of you know that back in January I had to bring Cino in for an ultrasound. Here is the post if you haven’t read it: Sunday Pause (Paws): Prayers for Cino. This Tuesday she will be going in for her annual physical. But we will also be checking to see if there is any blood in her urine as there has been the last few times.

Cino & I are both picky about what she eats. She doesn’t always want to eat what I want her to eat and I don’t always want her to eat what she wants to. She was really good about eating the food the veterinarian said we should try for her little kidney stone, but then decided one day she wanted nothing more to do with it. Continue reading

Keep An Eye On Your Pet

Don3-edited

Are you signed up for “PawBoost Alerts” in your area or something similar? If you don’t know what that is, it is Facebook alerts for when a pet has gone missing. It is a wonderful way to alert communities and get people involved in finding and returning an animal to their family.

I recently saw an alert for a little dog that was missing in my area and the note from the pet parent said the dog had been taken from their backyard. One of the comments was something like “OMG, you can’t even leave your pet outside anymore!” The sad reality is that it has been happening for a long time, we are probably just hearing about it more now with all of the online social media.
