I recently saw a segment on a news show (BTN11) called KidsSay: Can animals talk?

A conversation that might seem ordinary and cute, to me meant a whole lot more.

A few questions asked to children were:

Do animals talk?
They certainly do! Not in our language, but in their own. A cat meows, a dog barks, and a cow moos. To us its noise, to them it’s a conversation.
Animals also speak with body language. We have to take the time to try to understand what they are trying to tell us by the way they look, move, and sound.

Our pets are our family, but if something ever happened to you, what would happen to your pet? This is something so easily overlooked, but being unprepared could be detrimental to your pet.

Should you put a dog on a chain or not put a dog on a chain?

The word “chain” is in itself so negative. I think its acceptable if you put a dog on an extended leash, maybe one made out of small chains, that will keep them safe from running off if you don’t have a fenced in yard. If you have a fenced in yard, there should be no need. Continue reading →

If you have a dog, there probably has been a time when they have slipped out the door or slipped through the fence. Our little poodle we had growing up was somehow down the street before we knew it many times. If you have a dog you also know getting them back becomes a game. Thunder, lightning, rain…oh my!

It’s coming our way and I anticipate my cat will be hiding under a blanket as she usually does.

I read a few tips about how to help your pet during a storm. One of them is exactly what my cat does…allow them to hide. Make a few safe spots for them in the house. I provide a blanket for her to hide under in the living room so she stays near me. But she can also go in her bed, under the bed, under the sheets (as pictured in photo) wherever she needs to. You’re so excited to bring home a new kitten or cat. Your child has been asking for one forever and you finally decide to go for it. Before you do, take the time to be prepared. Being prepared will make it easier on you and your new furry friend.

Peteducation.com has a great article that can walk you through some steps to be prepared. Here is one quote from the article:

“You will be taking your cat out of a familiar environment, putting him into a noisy, moving vehicle, then expecting him to adjust to new surroundings, new people and perhaps, new animals. This is a lot to ask, and no matter how wonderful you and your home are, even the most easy-going cat is likely to be stressed and nervous.”

OK, so the movie is “All Dogs Go to Heaven.” That’s true! But…actually ALL ANIMALS go to heaven.
