“But perhaps when we look at the connection between animal cruelty and human violence, we would focus more attention on those who abuse animals to prevent them from escalating to crimes against people.”
“This is a serious problem. It is also one that will only get worse if left unchecked.”
The tragedies are too much around our world lately, especially in the Unites States. When you think about what the answer is, does empathy towards animals come to mind? Probably not, but I encourage you to rethink that. Here is my latest poem… Continue reading →
Have you ever seen the movie Legally Blonde or Legally Blonde 2? Reese Witherspoon plays Elle Woods a fashionable sorority queen. In Legally Blonde she winds up going to law school and becoming a lawyer and in Legally Blonde 2 she finds herself fighting against animal experimentation.
I am not sure how well the two movies did in theaters and some may even say they are corny chick flicks which they may very well be. But I find myself being drawn to these types of movies. I think I still have the envy little girls have for “princesses” still in me.
Regardless of how well they did in the box office, I found positive messages in each of these movies. Legally Blonde shows how you really should never judge a book by its cover. Everyone thought Elle was way too pink & ditsy to ever go to law school and actual become a lawyer. But she did!
In Legally Blonde 2, she was laughed at for bringing up her concern for animals suffering in experiments for cosmetics. But she didn’t let that stop her. Please enjoy the following clip from the movie (6:50 minutes). (Ignore the silly “my dog is gay thing”)
In November of 2016 I wrote a post about someone who was concerned about the dog next door being left outside and was asking my advice. I want to share that post again because it is a topic that deserves thought & discussion.
Where I am it has been brutally cold. We have had below zero temperatures lasting more than a week in a row. I think about any poor animals that might be out in this weather without shelter. Whether it be because of a bad pet parent (hate the word “owner”), they are lost, or that they are a stray, having to endure these temperatures must be brutal. I’m sure it even causes some animals to lose their life. 😦
I recently saw something on Facebook that said something like “If I drive by your house Continue reading →
I was just recently told that in Wisconsin a new bill will mean there is no longer an age limit on hunting. This means even a Toddler could hunt.
Although I do have my own thoughts and opinions about hunting, I want to make it clear at the beginning of this post that this post is NOT about hunting itself, it is about the age one is allowed to hunt.Continue reading →
Animal abuse, a very sad topic, but one that needs to be given attention.
Did you know animal abuse isn’t just someone hitting or hurting their own pet?
Did you know animals are being abused daily and we are allowing it?
On the packaging of items that are organic, such as cheese, it says “Pasture Raised Cows.” There are WAY less organic products available than non-organic products. So what is happening to the other cows?
I came across this post and was so moved by it, I had to share. Tiya Ivy wrote this post after the tragic death of her cat, Henry. She poured her heart out about the pain she was in over Henry’s death and how it happened.
Here is a paragraph from Tiya’s post:
“You see, Henry wasn’t just a run of the mill house cat. He wasn’t just a fixture in the background of our home that came in for feeding and kept to himself. He was an ever-present, loving and very involved member of our family. The night he died, his final act in this world before sneaking past my husband’s feet to get out far too late that evening, was to calm our 4-year-old daughter (who was having a meltdown because she was overtired and didn’t want to go to bed) by laying peacefully beside her until she finally drifted to sleep – as was his way. Every time I had a migraine, he never left my side until the storm had passed, even when I was puking my guts up and writhing in agony. When he came for a cuddle, he didn’t just lie next to you, he insisted on having his paw held. Despite the numerous times they certainly deserved it, he never once raised a claw to either of our girls. The amount of times he would make us laugh on a daily basis is innumerable. He was the physical embodiment of love and patience. He gave us everything he had to give and your actions robbed us of the chance to thank him for choosing to share his life with us before he left this world.”Continue reading →
I have been rolling around all kinds of ideas in my head for quite a while trying to come up with a drawing/saying that expresses what I feel my blog is all about. I mean, I do feel the name of my blog says a lot, which is why I chose the name, but I want to do more. What do you think of the graphic below? Continue reading →
Doesn’t Tee look so relaxed and comfortable? What could be better than lying in the garden getting some sun? 🙂
Sadly less than a month ago Tee was not so relaxed, but found himself in a terrible predicament. He was found screaming face down in a barn in a pile of junk with his paw stuck in a trap. Below is the actual trap he was found in. Continue reading →
