Sunday Pause (Paws): It’s No Small Thing

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and talk a little bit about health…which is no small thing.

I don’t know about you but I think I worry about Cino’s health more than I do my own, and when it comes to those annual vet visits, well let’s just say Cino isn’t a happy camper. I have to trick her to get her into her carrier and when I do she is letting me know how she feels about that the whole way to the vet’s office. I know she is stressed out and that in turn makes me stressed out. But I am working on being more calm because I believe she can feel how I am feeling.

Then there’s who you are bringing your pet to. I love Cino’s veterinarian. At this last visit we were talking about how it seems many people don’t like their own people doctor very much. I am one of them but yet I keep going to them. When it comes to Cino I would never just keep going. Who and how Cino is taken care of is no small thing to me.vetrinarian-your-pet-aafbt

Sunday Pause (Paws): Trying To Fit In

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and do some thinking.

I‘m not sure how long you have been blogging but have you ever noticed how sometimes you seem to have a lot of interaction (or Likes) on your posts and sometimes hardly at all? When it is hardly at all it makes you start to wonder why. Is it that your blogging community is busy and just not seeing your posts or maybe they just don’t like that particular post?

Some of you have been with me for a while on this blogging journey. You know that I have changed things along the way as probably many of us have. Lately it kind of seems like I am not getting a lot of interaction. It made me start wondering if it could be because I have been using cartoon images a lot more often and not writing as much. I started thinking about that and if I should try to change my posts. But I realized I really don’t want to, at least not right now, because I am finding joy in creating the cartoons.

Thinking about all of this made me also think about how we worry about our popularity or if we are fitting in. Not just with social media but with everything. But is that really what matters?

Never Be Afraid To Do What’s Right

This is a day late but I just saw this quote today and I LOVE it. So I put the quote on a picture of Cino that I made into beautiful art. 🙂

Sunday Pause (Paws): Resolutions Are Not For Me

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and come up with new year resolutions…or not.

I‘ve never been one to make resolutions. I’ve actually never been one that got that excited about New Years in general. So we change one number on checks when we write the date…wait does anybody write checks anymore? So we’ll soon be another year older…wait unless you’re birthday is at the end of the year. So we’ll have another January, February, March, April…well you get the point.

I hope you enjoy the poem I wrote for this post.

NO RESOLUTIONS ARE NOT FOR ME

One day out of three hundred sixty five
Doesn’t magically make me strive
Any day I don’t like what’s in the mirror
Means I need to kick myself in the rear Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): For Seniors

its-sunday-aafbt

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and put a spotlight on seniors.

November is “Adopt A Senior Pet Month” and I just couldn’t let November end without doing a post. But I wanted to do a post about seniors in general.

We start off this life depending on others to care for us and we often end this life depending on this very same thing. But there is a difference. When we’re a baby we’re seen as cute and lovable. When we’re old we’re often seen as not so cute and annoying.

But aging is the circle of life. Things WILL change.

Oh Deer

I told myself I wasn’t going to sit at the computer tonight and that I was going to just lie under the covers and rest. I tried.

Oh deer, I’m wiped out.

I haven’t been feeling good for a number of days now, I hardly slept last night due to a severe thunderstorm, and work has been really crazy busy. I came home from work early and planned to lie on the couch under my blanket and take a nap but no luck. I did rest for a long time on the couch and even had a hot cup of tea. But I started getting bored & restless. So here I am. Continue reading

Writer’s Block

As a blogger, do you ever feel like there just isn’t much to write about? Of course I am just talking about certain times, not all of the time. This is me lately. I know it’s just a temporary “writer’s block.” Sometimes I have tons to write about that I have to keep a list.

I don’t want to force myself to create a post if I don’t really have anything to say because then I just don’t feel it will be a very good one. This is one of the reasons why I stopped doing “Tuesday Tales.” I have kept “Sunday Pause (Paws)” though because it gives me an opportunity once a week to write a more positive, happy post (at least most of them are). But I do have a hard time coming up with something for those too at times.

There are times when I feel more inspired to create an image than to write about something. But then sometimes the image says it all like this one that I created.

Sunday Pause (Paws): Helping A Family & Their Dog

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and consider extending a helping hand for a family & their dog.

I know this is a different kind of Sunday post from what I normally do but helping animals is my mission. When I read the post an old coworker had out there about her dog, Mack, I felt I had to try to help.

Her dog has been taken from her family and is currently at a boarding facility because of some incidences of him getting out of the house or yard and running up to people or other animals and scaring them. Continue reading

Empathy For All, Except…

Does empathy for all include insects? Is it because a bug is so small in comparison to us and considered pests that our empathy might not extend to them?

This week I stepped in for a teacher to go get some water. I was only outside with the children for a few minutes when I noticed most of the group was over at the bushes. I went over to see what they were doing. This is when I saw a girl ripping the wings off of a beetle. I was shocked! This was our conversation…

Me: What are you doing, did you just rip his wings off?
Girl: Yes.
Me: Why?
Girl: Because they’re eating our plants and making holes in them.
Me: So you’re ripping their wings off for that?
Girl: Yes, gardeners say to do this.
Me: What? I have never heard of such a thing. What gardeners?
Girl and other students: All gardeners. They’re killing all of our plants, bushes, and trees so they’re killing us.
Me: They are not killing us. We don’t rip the wings off of insects, that’s cruel. That would be like someone ripping your arms off.
Another girl: So, I wouldn’t care.

Group of kids went to picnic table and were all talking about it, I went over to listen and then intervened. Continue reading

Seriously Sad

Someone I know shared a very sad thing with me that happened to her son. I couldn’t believe it!

Her son, Elliott, who is in college was sharing a house with another guy. They got a dog together and Elliott became particularly fond of this dog. He became very close to him and as most people who care about their pets do, Elliott soon saw this dog as family. He played with him, bragged about him, and took pictures of him all the time.

Fast forward to eight years later, when one morning Elliott couldn’t find his dog anywhere. He was looking all over the house & yard. All he found was his collar on the kitchen table. He asked his roommate numerous times where the dog was but the roommate wouldn’t say anything. Becoming more alarmed, Elliott became frantic and started raising his voice and demanding to know what happened to him. His roommate finally admitted he had taken the dog to the vet in the middle of the night to be euthanized.

This was a healthy, happy, eight year old dog. His life was just ended and why? Because the neighbors complained he killed some of their chickens.
