Sunday Pause (Paws): Friendship

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and be thankful for friends.

We all have our highs and our lows in life. If you read my post from last Sunday then you know I’m kind of at a low right now. But during this low I’ve been feeling love & support around me from some people that I didn’t even know cared. I don’t know where I’d be without them. I wrote the following poem as an outlet for what I’ve been going through and to express gratitude for the support.

WITH THE HELP OF YOUR FRIENDS

It’s an emotional journey
This thing called life
Sometimes filled with peace
And sometimes filled with strife

Chaos everywhere you turn
The world is not in a good place
Sometimes making it hard
To deal with challenges you face

Emotions are building up
You’ve kept them bottled up too long
You’re brought down to your knees
Trying to figure out what’s going wrong Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): It Might Be An Angel

Time to kick back, relax, and enjoy some poetry.

I wrote a poem to go along with what I think is an adorable photo of Cino that I recently got with my new camera. I hope you enjoy it. 🙂

IT MIGHT BE AN ANGEL

When I look at that sweet face
I see an angel among this place
For me the word “just” doesn’t exist
Your needs are always high on my list Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): Photo Fun

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and enjoy photos of the beautiful season of fall.

We have had way below average temperatures and it has been rainy and cloudy for weeks. So when I headed out with my new camera on a fall road trip it wasn’t a very ideal day. It didn’t rain but it was still very cloudy and cold. But even so, there were many beautiful trees to see despite the weather.

Along our drive we also saw different animals such as horses, cows, and deer. Continue reading

Writer’s Block

As a blogger, do you ever feel like there just isn’t much to write about? Of course I am just talking about certain times, not all of the time. This is me lately. I know it’s just a temporary “writer’s block.” Sometimes I have tons to write about that I have to keep a list.

I don’t want to force myself to create a post if I don’t really have anything to say because then I just don’t feel it will be a very good one. This is one of the reasons why I stopped doing “Tuesday Tales.” I have kept “Sunday Pause (Paws)” though because it gives me an opportunity once a week to write a more positive, happy post (at least most of them are). But I do have a hard time coming up with something for those too at times.

There are times when I feel more inspired to create an image than to write about something. But then sometimes the image says it all like this one that I created.

Sunday Pause (Paws): Staycation

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and….well for me reminisce about the past week.

Do you ever do “staycations?” The trick with these are that since you are not actually gone, you are still constantly thinking about what you have to get done. Those stinkin’ daily tasks. Well I decided for this staycation that I was going to get those stinkin’ tasks done first, the ones that HAD to be done, and then focus my attention on having fun!

Before the week arrived I made a point to contact a few friends, let them know I was going to be off work, and made plans with them.

I took a bunch of pictures but because most of the people in my life are pretty private people and prefer their picture not be posted on the web, I had some fun with the pics. As you may know, I love to edit pics and turn them into some sort of “creation.” This is what I did with the pics from this week that I would like to share with you.

The first pic is actually in Norway. Some of my family flew there this week to see my niece who just had her first baby. 🙂 They have been so awesome with sharing pics with me throughout the week it has made me feel like I am there with them. The building to the right is the Strand Hotel where Roald Dahl (author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, & BFG) used to spend his summers writing.

My Best Friend

Two posts in one day, not something I do often. But when I realized today was “National Friendship Day” I wanted to share a pic of my best friend.

Empathy For All, Except…

Does empathy for all include insects? Is it because a bug is so small in comparison to us and considered pests that our empathy might not extend to them?

This week I stepped in for a teacher to go get some water. I was only outside with the children for a few minutes when I noticed most of the group was over at the bushes. I went over to see what they were doing. This is when I saw a girl ripping the wings off of a beetle. I was shocked! This was our conversation…

Me: What are you doing, did you just rip his wings off?
Girl: Yes.
Me: Why?
Girl: Because they’re eating our plants and making holes in them.
Me: So you’re ripping their wings off for that?
Girl: Yes, gardeners say to do this.
Me: What? I have never heard of such a thing. What gardeners?
Girl and other students: All gardeners. They’re killing all of our plants, bushes, and trees so they’re killing us.
Me: They are not killing us. We don’t rip the wings off of insects, that’s cruel. That would be like someone ripping your arms off.
Another girl: So, I wouldn’t care.

Group of kids went to picnic table and were all talking about it, I went over to listen and then intervened. Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): Gratitude & Joy

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and for me today I want to express my gratitude & joy.

I was thrilled to see that we just hit 500 blog followers.

What did you say?cino-what?2-aafbt
I said we just hit 500 followers!

Although the number of followers isn’t as important as the impact hopefully being made for animals…I am so, so grateful!

I think Cino wanted to thank you too! Continue reading
