Sunday Pause (Paws): Beautiful Soul

It’s Sunday, time to kick back, relax, and remember.

I wanted to dedicate this post to remembering those who have passed. Death is never easy for those left behind. When you lose someone close to you, you are never the same. I shared the poem below shortly after my sister passed away last year. I thought it was fitting to share it again now. Her birthday is next week, so I have been thinking a lot about her lately.

©Animals Are Feeling Beings Too

Even when it’s not someone you personally know, but the loss of a super star, it can be devastating. The following are pictures I took when I visited Paisley Park after Prince passed away last year (April 21st, 2017). It was so much more sparse than what it had been when the news first got out that he was gone. By the time I went most of it had blown away, the flowers had died, and so on.  Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): A Spring Snow Storm

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back & relax!

Today I have a little story in the form of a poem. I hope you enjoy.

A turkey out for a stroll
When the weather takes a turn
Shelter found under a roof’s edge
Until something causes him concern

Footsteps coming towards him
A person with a camera in hand
Makes him start to move away
Wings flapping, I think I made him mad

A Day To Recognize Pets

Animals are such a blessing, a true gift from God. They bring so much joy, love, and comfort. So having a day to recognize these wonderful beings we call our “pets” is truly deserved.

Here is a short poem along with a picture of my sweet Cino to celebrate this special day.

A furry family member
Are you blessed to have one?
Do you have a special bond
That compares to none?

The Paw Pact

What is the Paw Pact? It is this…

When I saw this Paw Pact image on Facebook I knew I would be making a post out of it. It is exactly how I feel. I do not feel animals are disposable and once you bring them in your home they become family and you don’t just get rid of family.

Animals are little angels. Just the other day a friend of mine put this on her Facebook Page: “Just because my children Continue reading

Make A Change With Love & Prayer

I wrote the following poem this morning because there was a shooting near me last night. As some of you know writing poetry helps me release feelings. It is so hard to hear about all of these shootings and think about the current state of this country and our world. It seems we can’t go a week without hearing of a shooting and most of the shootings are by students. A change is needed and it’s not always just the law that needs to change.

It seems to be our new reality
A shooting here, a shooting there
The only way to change this
Is with love and prayer

Laws will always be broken
Causing many people despair
The only way to change this
Is with love and prayer Continue reading

Harming Animals Leads To Harming People

mya-face-words-aafbt

“But perhaps when we look at the connection between animal cruelty and human violence, we would focus more attention on those who abuse animals to prevent them from escalating to crimes against people.”

“This is a serious problem. It is also one that will only get worse if left unchecked.”

Taken from “Animal Cruelty and Human Violence” http://www.huffingtonpost.com

The tragedies are too much around our world lately, especially in the Unites States. When you think about what the answer is, does empathy towards animals come to mind? Probably not, but I encourage you to rethink that. Here is my latest poem… Continue reading
