Sunday Pause (Paws): It Might Be An Angel

Time to kick back, relax, and enjoy some poetry.

I wrote a poem to go along with what I think is an adorable photo of Cino that I recently got with my new camera. I hope you enjoy it. 🙂

IT MIGHT BE AN ANGEL

When I look at that sweet face
I see an angel among this place
For me the word “just” doesn’t exist

National Black Cat Day

Hello all. Happy weekend!

I have been hard at work creating images with messages about animals. If you have been following me for a while then you probably know I have been searching for the best way for me to help animals. As time goes on and changes happen in my life I find new & creative ways in doing that. In the last few years I’ve gone from being a new blogger, to finding an interest in photography, playing with photos, to the sudden loss of my sister that brought back my love for expressing myself through poetry, to creating images with messages. Whew!

Actually, if I never settle on just one of these things it’s ok…as long as I continue being a voice for animals.

I created the image below last night along with a few others for Halloween. I will share the other ones with you on Halloween or as it gets closer to Halloween (if you follow my Facebook Page you may have already seen them). Anyway, it turns out today is “National Black Cat Day.” I had no idea when I created the image…so how lucky am I?!

I may be lucky but black cats aren’t. They get a bad rap and are actually seen as bad luck with all of the superstitions out there. Seriously people….a cat is a cat is a cat. BLACK is only a color.

Sunday Pause (Paws): Hooray!

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, grumble a little and rejoice a little.

I have had such a busy week at home and at work that I didn’t think I would be able to put much of a Sunday post together. But then I read a post that I feel took the thoughts right out of my mind and the words right out of my mouth about animals and felt it makes a perfect Sunday post.

Here is a quote from that post:

Study after study has demonstrated that we have egregiously underestimated the animals. Animals are now known to reason and make decisions, to plan for the future, to have strong personal relationships with friends and family, to make personal sacrifices for the good of other creatures, and to have unique personalities. They can be optimistic or pessimistic, and that can depend on their surroundings. In short, animals do all kinds of things we used to think were uniquely human. As Jonathan Balcomb puts it, they are not just alive, they have lives.
Taken from:
Why Caring About Animals Is Central To What It Means To Follow Christ

(I have to add…it doesn’t seem to me that it takes rocket science to know this.)

Ironically I had made the following image the day before I read that post. It seems perfectly fitting with this. Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): Photo Fun

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and enjoy photos of the beautiful season of fall.

We have had way below average temperatures and it has been rainy and cloudy for weeks. So when I headed out with my new camera on a fall road trip it wasn’t a very ideal day. It didn’t rain but it was still very cloudy and cold. But even so, there were many beautiful trees to see despite the weather.

Along our drive we also saw different animals such as horses, cows, and deer. Continue reading

Teaching By Example

I WOULD RATHER

The circus is in town
Everyone is going there
The kids would have a good time
But I would rather teach them to care

Tricks that are sure to amaze
Entertaining the crowd all night
It’s an event for the whole family
But I would rather teach them what’s right

Clowns with big feet & a red nose
Elephants, lions, tigers, & bears
It’s quite the variety show
But I would rather teach them what’s fair

Sunday Pause (Paws): An Animal Is An Animal

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and take a moment to think about animals…really.

I recently read about a day created by The Anglican Society for Animals calledAnimal Welfare Sunday” which is today. It looks like they encourage churches to speak about animals and God’s intent for them.

I think this is great and I wish there were more discussions and sermons in the church about this.

“God gave us dominion over animals, but I truly believe the human race has misinterpreted this and that he, along with us, is grieving over the treatment of animals in our society.”
(A quote from my ABOUT page)

I have always loved animals. I grew up with an adorable black toy poodle and if friends or family had pets I could always be found wherever they were. But it wasn’t until I took the time to learn about how our society treats & uses other animals that I made some important lifestyle changes.

do you love animals or just pets?-aafbt

Just So Sweet

Working around children I’m lucky to get some great pictures every now & then.

An officer visited the little ones and their faces were beaming. They love the uniform, seeing the car lights, and hearing the siren. It was so fun to listen to them talk to him and ask questions. They even had a discussion about how if they lost their dog the police will help find them and bring them home.

Just so sweet! We need to see more positive things like this in our world.
