Sunday Pause (Paws): Extending Love

It’s Sunday & it’s Valentine’s Day!

We wish a happy one and send you love from our little Valentine to yours.

Give your pets some extra hugs & kisses today and remember that love you FEEL for your pet should be extended to all animals.

Happy Sunday!

Sunday Pause (Paws): In The Cold

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back & relax.

This weekend here is a perfect time to stay in and cozy up with a book, movie, or take a nap. It’s freezing!

These adorable pets below are having fun playing in the snow.

They will be brought in when they are done. Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): Conversations Require True Listening

It’s Sunday! Time time kick back & relax. Maybe make a Sunday feast, watch a movie, or just have a good conversation with someone.

Most of the time my posts come from something that occurred during the week. There hasn’t been much occurring so it’s been harder to write posts. I suppose we can blame it on the pandemic because we haven’t been getting out and doing things. But I have been working out in the field this entire time and the other day I had a conversation with a coworker that prompted this post.

I was filling in for a teacher so she could take her break. It was lunch time for the kids. Lunch was hamburgers, vegetables, and fruit. The other teacher asked me “are you vegetarian or vegan?” I answered “vegetarian on the way to vegan.” He asked what I meant by that. I told him I am having a hard time giving up cheese and that I need to work on finding other products to use as a binder instead of eggs. He said “if they’re raised and cared for right and treated humanely it shouldn’t be a problem, but that is the problem they aren’t.” I replied “yes, they aren’t.” He then said “you could raise your own chickens so you can raise them humanely.” I replied “it’s not just about raising them humanely. I truly believe that God did not create animals just so we can slaughter them and harm them. I know that’s seen as normal but Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): Thoughts On Speaking Up

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back and relax.

Relaxing sometimes means more thinking. One thing I think about often during these trying times our world has been going through this past year is animals.

I‘m not sure why I remembered something from years ago but it is what prompted this post. I was visiting a friend who has children and a dog & cat. While I was there one of the children and the cat came into the room. The child was kind of picking at/pestering the cat and so the cat scratched the child. The child was of course upset by that and then swung his leg very hard and kicked the cat. I did a loud shocked noise and said “don’t kick your cat!” My friend told her child to stop but then looked at me and said “well the cat shouldn’t have scratched him.” I was appalled.

Being who I am and how I feel about animals I knew I had to speak up. Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): Ahhh…Relaxing On A New Couch

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back and relax.

I personally wasn’t able to relax for a few days this week. We ordered a new couch in October and had received notification this past week that it was in and the delivery company would be in touch. A little back story on this…

I do not purchase big items very often and when I do I usually research for hours, or even days, before making a decision. Our old couch was over 20 years old. So in my search I fell in love with a couch I saw online that a friend shared with me but knew it would be too big for our space. We already had a pretty big couch and this one would be bigger. So I kept looking online and stopping in some furniture stores. There it was, one I thought would work. It was the color I wanted and had the buttons on them I liked on the other couch that would be too big. I spoke with a sales person about my biggest concern which was delivery and getting it in our second floor home. The sales person said this couch has been having some trouble getting in to homes so she proceeded to grab a tape measure and we discussed it more. I still had doubts so she brought me to the manager who also measured, looked up the information on the computer, and told me what measurements the door and the ceiling needed to be for them to get it in. I went home and carefully measured everything, spoke with the manager again, and told him I was concerned about ordering it if there were doubts because we couldn’t afford a restocking fee just to not have a couch in the end. He was convinced it would be fine so I ordered it.

Delivery day came and sure enough Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): Come Together

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back & relax and seriously you all we need to pray. Turning on each other is not the answer.

There is just too much going on in the world (in our country) to even try to fully write about right now.

There is hate, there is violence, there is illness, there is financial worry, and so much more. Aside of these recent global and local battles there has always been abuse. Abuse of animals and abuse of people. I’m afraid with all of the stresses these days this has most likely heightened. So many different challenges people are going through. Just this past week I have heard of two people committing suicide (too close to home). This is one thing that deeply breaks my heart. Thinking that someone felt that much despair that they saw no way out and chose to end their life is such an absolute heartbreaking thing.

A world with no more hate
For that day we can hardly wait
Until then love is what we’ll portray
And on our knees we’ll continue to pray

Not sure what you’re going through but my prayer is you can have a Happy Sunday!

Sunday Pause (Paws): A Strange Christmas

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back & relax!

This has been a hard and strange year and Christmas was strange this year too. Our family didn’t get together because we are trying to remain safe during the pandemic. We celebrated by opening gifts from one another on Skype. It was nice but doesn’t begin to compare to being together.

Christmas always comes & goes so quickly. The poem below I wrote a few years back. I wanted to share it again.

CHRISTMAS IS NEAR…
It’s the most wonderful time of the year

People all around are so full of cheer
Bells that are jingling all the way
Songs a plenty about that special day
Children thinking about all of the gifts
Telling Santa what’s on their wish list
Trees decorated so beautiful & bright
That glow beautiful in the silent night
Going here & there travelers abound
Friends and family gathering all around
Candy canes and cookies galore
Mashed potatoes, gravy and so much more
Stockings stuffed with treats for Fido

So full they fall and land on the bible
Everyone stops and remembers the reason
That we celebrate this festive season
It’s not about Santa and his sleigh full of toys
But Jesus’s birth and to the world what joy!
So from me and even my little scrooge too
We wish a very Merry Christmas to you

Sunday Pause (Paws): For The Season

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back and relax.

But how much relaxing do we actually get during this time of year?!

Even with all the prep and work it is still my favorite time of year!

We wish you a blessed Christmas, however you may celebrate this year. 🎄

Happy Sunday!

Sunday Pause (Paws): Zzzz

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back and relax.

I have been getting some great pictures of pets that people have been sharing with me. I just love seeing them so relaxed, comfortable, and safe like this guy below (Sarge).

I hope you’re having a relaxing day too.

Happy Sunday!
