It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and start the holiday season.
Christmas songs on the radio, stores are stocked with gift items, movies and specials are on tv, and peppermint mochas are available at your favorite coffee shop. The holiday season has officially begun. Are you ready for it?
I don’t get into the Christmas spirit until after Thanksgiving. One holiday at a time please. But after Thanksgiving then I am in it 100%! It really is my favorite time of the year!
The day after Thanksgiving is Black Friday…ugh. I want nothing to do with it. I would much rather stay home and put up my tree and stay out of the chaos. Cino loves when the tree goes up so she can play and sleep under the tree skirt.
It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and put a spotlight on seniors.
November is “Adopt A Senior Pet Month” and I just couldn’t let November end without doing a post. But I wanted to do a post about seniors in general.
We start off this life depending on others to care for us and we often end this life depending on this very same thing. But there is a difference. When we’re a baby we’re seen as cute and lovable. When we’re old we’re often seen as not so cute and annoying.
But aging is the circle of life. Things WILL change.
It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and be thankful for friends.
We all have our highs and our lows in life. If you read my post from last Sunday then you know I’m kind of at a low right now. But during this low I’ve been feeling love & support around me from some people that I didn’t even know cared. I don’t know where I’d be without them. I wrote the following poem as an outlet for what I’ve been going through and to express gratitude for the support.
WITH THE HELP OF YOUR FRIENDS
It’s an emotional journey This thing called life Sometimes filled with peace
And sometimes filled with strife
Chaos everywhere you turn The world is not in a good place Sometimes making it hard To deal with challenges you face
Emotions are building up You’ve kept them bottled up too long You’re brought down to your knees Trying to figure out what’s going wrongContinue reading →
It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and turn the focus on something else.
I‘ve been experiencing a wide range of emotions lately. Part of it is getting older, feeling less patient, and worrying about my future. I know there are changes I need to make in my life, yet it can be so confusing and scary.
Then there are politics, the state of our country, so much violence, all the negative news reports, etc., etc., etc. It can all make you crazy!
I‘ve been reading a book for work called “Managing Emotional Mayhem.” According to what I read it makes me wonder if most of us grew up not ever learning how to deal with our emotions properly.
It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and reminisce. Do you ever think back to when you first met your pet?
There were no special circumstances in my meeting Cino. I saw her on a Humane Society website and decided to drive over there and meet her. She was shy and aloof but after she made eye contact with me for the first time and let out a MEOW, that was it!
It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, grumble a little and rejoice a little.
I have had such a busy week at home and at work that I didn’t think I would be able to put much of a Sunday post together. But then I read a post that I feel took the thoughts right out of my mind and the words right out of my mouth about animals and felt it makes a perfect Sunday post.
Here is a quote from that post:
Study after study has demonstrated that we have egregiously underestimated the animals. Animals are now known to reason and make decisions, to plan for the future, to have strong personal relationships with friends and family, to make personal sacrifices for the good of other creatures, and to have unique personalities. They can be optimistic or pessimistic, and that can depend on their surroundings. In short, animals do all kinds of things we used to think were uniquely human. As Jonathan Balcomb puts it, they are not just alive, they have lives. Taken from: Why Caring About Animals Is Central To What It Means To Follow Christ
(I have to add…it doesn’t seem to me that it takes rocket science to know this.)
Ironically I had made the following image the day before I read that post. It seems perfectly fitting with this. Continue reading →
