Sunday Pause (Paws)

Here we are again…it’s Sunday!

Winter has arrived where I live. The weather has been strange though. We have had warmer than normal temperatures and a lot of rain. If it weren’t for these warmer temperatures, that rain would have been snow, a lot of snow!

We actually have gotten some snow, but it has all melted away. Much colder temps are expected for next week, so I’m sure the snow will be here to stay soon and for MANY months.

Whether you enjoy winter or not, I think you will still enjoy watching the animals in the video below loving it!

Your Child Not Acting the Way You Want…Drive Them Out to the Woods

Your Child Is Not Acting the Way You Would Like Them To. Would You Consider Driving Them Far Off Into the Woods and Leaving Them There?

*I ask you to please watch all of the videos to get a full understanding of the message I am trying to convey in this post. The longest one is the first one which is a little over 4 minutes, but worth the watch. The other two are less than two minutes long. So here we go…

You got married, had a baby, and oh what hopes and dreams you have for them. You enjoyed those precious years when they were young and still listened to you. Then, it happens…they become a teenager or a young adult. They no longer listen to you. Maybe they are hanging around the wrong crowd, or have an addiction, or got someone pregnant, or committed a crime. Maybe all you do is fight with them. They cause you so much frustration, money, time. So here you are, decision time. Do you stick with it and try to help them through this the best you can? They are, of course, a member of your family.

The tale of Theodore told by Amelia

My sister had gotten a puppy named, Theodore, for her 9th birthday. Almost two years later, Theodore went missing.

Dad had Theodore outside and turned away for a minute. When he looked back Theodore was gone. He called for him, but Theo never came.

Pets Outside in the Cold-What Do We Do?

do-somethingAnimal Radio

I received a phone call this morning from someone who is concerned about a neighbor dog and they were looking for advice. The dog seems to be put outside whenever they are home and then brought inside whenever they leave. When the dog is outside it is put inside of a little fenced in square they have in the yard.

The concern isn’t so much about that, even though in my opinion, I don’t feel people should have a dog unless they are actually going to pay attention to it. It’s more about the nonstop barking for one. Although ignoring your pet is going to cause barking and other behavior issues (and who’s fault is this?…not the dog’s. Just saying). The other concern is, it just turned very cold here, and the dog is being left in the cold for hours at a time. This dog has no doghouse to go into and there are no leaves on trees anymore to block the brutal winds. Continue reading

Hoping to Make an Impact

I have been blogging (well…serious blogging) for a few months now. I have played around with my blog, changing & adding things like the “Tuesday Tales” where I share animal stories and “Sunday Pause (Paws)” where I encourage everyone to kick back & relax. On my “Vegetarian Challenge” page I try to add recipes every now & then. There hasn’t been an actual challenge yet, but maybe in the future. Also, I have been adding my favorite cruelty free products to the “Links” page, adding some pictures of my cat, Cino and “Pet Care Tips.”

I will continue to add to these pages and keep a variety on my blog. But one thing that will not change is where my heart is, and that is helping the fight against animal cruelty.

This means some of my posts will not be so uplifting or fun. If I were to only do “happy” posts I wouldn’t be spreading the word about animal cruelty and therefore I wouldn’t be helping animals.

The tale of Casey told by Allison

One evening our neighbor called us over because she heard a strange sound near one of the sheds. It sounded like a meow. As it turned out, it WAS a meow!

An adorable little gray tabby barn kitten had fallen through a hole in the attic and was trapped inside the wall!

Be Kind

I didn’t plan on doing a post today, but with all of the negativity going on in the United States right now over the election, I thought this picture I found on Facebook had a great message.

Not all of us agree on who should or shouldn’t be President, but please remember to still be kind. We are all entitled to our own opinions, that is what makes us “individuals.” Don’t follow the crowd, think for yourself, and be kind!

The Tale of Tank Told by Allisha

I was on the internet searching for pitbull puppies when I came across an ad about some for sale in Iowa MN. I called to see if they were still available and they were. So, one weekend we drove down to Iowa to go look at them and once we got there I fell in love with all 4 puppies that they had.

My boyfriend picked out the puppy that he wanted and I got to choose the puppy that I wanted, so in the end we came home with 2 puppies! One we named Duke and one we named Tank.

We had both of them for a couple of months and then…

Routine Exams-Ugh!

Those routine annual exams, none of us are particularly fond of them, but they are important!

doctor-checklistHarvard Health Publications

I just had a bit of a scare being called back in for a recheck after a routine annual exam. Because of this, I asked others for prayer, prayed myself, and kept myself busy until the appointment. Our pets are not to fond of these annual exams either, but at least they do not know they are going until you take them. They don’t have to spend that “waiting” time. Waiting for the appointment day, waiting to be called in, and waiting for the results.
