We’re All Lamenting

Hello all. I hope this post finds you all well, healthy, & safe.

A while ago when this pandemic first began I had posted that I had so much to say but couldn’t form the words to say it. I am still feeling that way but thought I would give it a shot. Expressing yourself through writing is very healing. It is the reason I like to write poetry and it is one of the reasons I blog, as it may be the reason for many of you.

The reason I decided to give it a try today is because of the past few weeks LIVE service messages. They were about how we are all going through a time of lamenting. Though in this time of lamenting we may be ignoring the process of healing. We all want things to get back to “normal” as quickly as possible. We want to get from A to Z as quickly as possible.

People are dying, committing suicide, fighting, abuse is prevalent (we hear about in domestic cases but I’m sure the animals/pets are suffering terribly too as we know many farm animals are), crime is up, we’re experiencing job loss and financial crisis. To top it off Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): Caring Doesn’t Stop

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back & relax. Me…I’ve been taking a pause to think about, SURPRISE, animals!

Seriously though, during times like these I sometimes wonder…what do  others think of me because I’m worried about animals during a human crisis? People are dying, losing their jobs, social distancing, etc. I wonder if they are thinking who cares about animals?

But this affects animals too. People are dumping their pets or giving them up because they lost their job and can’t provide for them any longer. Or some are worried they will catch the virus from them.

Factory farm animals…well let me start off by saying I really do not like them. The fact that they are called a “factory” farm in itself shows no living being should be subjected to a life there. I just read about a bunch of chickens that were loaded up, gassed, and then Continue reading

Snow, Cold, and Animals

It’s that time of year and we’re buried in snow again.

We actually had blizzard warnings. We have it all: snow, wind, and freezing temps.

Here is a little view out our window facing parking lot. The snow plow guy is out there hard at work clearing them. Continue reading

PACT Act…What Took So Long?

Today the bill was signed and The PACT Act makes animal cruelty a felony in the U.S.

I am overjoyed but I also have to ask….what took so long?

Sunday Pause (Paws): What Would Jesus Post?

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back and relax.

This is a bit more serious type post than the usual “light” posts I try to do on Sundays. But when I write posts the ideas usually come from something that happened the previous week.

It started from last Sundays sermon at church that was titled “What Would Jesus Post?” It got me thinking about how there is so much negativity and ugliness out there on social media. There is also a lot of negativity and ugliness in the world. Of course there is good too. But often the bad is focused on more than the good as I find the news is, which is why I do not watch news. We are bombarded with messages that put fear in us, make us worry, feel angry, and so on.

As my pastor said the world is actually suppose to be a preview of what’s to come. We are not suppose to live as if this is all there is until the world ends. We are to live heaven on earth now. So what will heaven be like? No more pain, fear, fighting, abuse, illness, and so on. OK…so we can’t make ALL that happen now but we can do our part to try to live our lives as God intended. We can practice loving one another and loving dominion over the earth and the animals. When we do that we bring a little bit of heaven to earth.
