A Different View

A DIFFERENT VIEW

God created all the animals
THEN he created man
Trusting us with dominion over them
That was his beautiful plan

Dominion means power & control
Authority, command & sway
Is your view of that bad?
Because that is not God’s way

It’s How You React That Matters

Today was Cino’s annual vet appointment. Not something I enjoy and certainly not something Cino enjoys.

You’ve heard these sayings:

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it”
“The glass is half empty or the glass is half full”
“When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”

Well how I have always dealt with her annual appointment is with anxiety and protective mama instincts. I was more or less seeing the vet as a “bad place.” I just want to get in and out as fast as possible.

It is true that God brings good out of every bad situation. If you recall last year I had to take Cino in for an ultrasound and I was worried sick. I did a lot of praying and God was certainly there. I don’t usually talk to anybody when I am at the clinic with Cino. I am too busy being nervous and “protecting” her. But at this appointment while in the waiting room waiting to be called in for the ultrasound there was a couple of other worried pet parents there and we talked. We kept each other company and helped calm each other’s nerves. And all of the staff was very kind, gentle, and understanding. So even though that appointment was a very scary one, it taught me something…that my vet isn’t a “bad place.”

So this time for her annual check up I did things differently. Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): Gratitude & Joy

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and for me today I want to express my gratitude & joy.

I was thrilled to see that we just hit 500 blog followers.

What did you say?cino-what?2-aafbt
I said we just hit 500 followers!

Although the number of followers isn’t as important as the impact hopefully being made for animals…I am so, so grateful!

I think Cino wanted to thank you too! Continue reading

Honoring Anders

A pet is not just a pet. A pet is a family member. That is exactly what Anders has been to a co-worker of mine.

Anders was added to their family when he was just a kitten. Sadly he passed away this past weekend. My coworker is devastated by this loss and was somewhat embarrassed that she was crying about it.  Continue reading

Father’s Day

I don’t usually write two posts in one day but I wrote a poem that reflects some things I have been feeling lately and wanted to share it. I also thought since today is Father’s Day that anyone who has lost their father, doesn’t have one around, or doesn’t have a good relationship with theirs might be encouraged. We all have a Father available if we just look up.

When you hear about another shooting
And your emotions are starting to buildup
It’s easy to start feeling scared
But I am going to choose to look up

When you hear about another abused animal
And you’re crying for that pup
It’s easy to start feeling hopeless
But I am going to choose to look up Continue reading

Seriously Sad

Someone I know shared a very sad thing with me that happened to her son. I couldn’t believe it!

Her son, Elliott, who is in college was sharing a house with another guy. They got a dog together and Elliott became particularly fond of this dog. He became very close to him and as most people who care about their pets do, Elliott soon saw this dog as family. He played with him, bragged about him, and took pictures of him all the time.

Fast forward to eight years later, when one morning Elliott couldn’t find his dog anywhere. He was looking all over the house & yard. All he found was his collar on the kitchen table. He asked his roommate numerous times where the dog was but the roommate wouldn’t say anything. Becoming more alarmed, Elliott became frantic and started raising his voice and demanding to know what happened to him. His roommate finally admitted he had taken the dog to the vet in the middle of the night to be euthanized.

This was a healthy, happy, eight year old dog. His life was just ended and why? Because the neighbors complained he killed some of their chickens.

Sunday Pause (Paws): Simply For Rest

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and get some rest.

I am going to keep this post short & sweet. I have been so tired lately and I’m pretty sure it’s because of allergies. I haven’t been feeling very motivated and I’m finding it harder to focus. So personally I really do plan to get rest today.

I‘m going to take it easy and hope I am more energetic next weekend. I have a graduation, two birthdays, and Father’s Day to celebrate!

But for now this is what I am going to do…

I LOVE the picture of Cino above. I used my cell phone so the quality isn’t that great, but it still turned out pretty good considering the camera on my cheap phone. I think the most precious times are watching pets sleep and soaking in the love you have for them. Don’t you? 🙂

Happy Sunday! Here’s to resting!

Fish…Yes They Are Feeling Beings Too

One fish, two fish
Red fish, blue fish
We must show compassion
To all fish, all fish
