Sunday Pause (Paws) for Animals

This Sunday, I wanted to try my hand at a little poetry again. So kick back, take a little break and I hope the message I am trying to convey comes through in what I wrote.

Female and male come together
A life is formed in the womb
When it’s time, born into this world
A baby’s life is brand new

Unable to care for itself
This new life needs love and care
Help from another life
And certainly the need for prayer Continue reading

Humans vs. Animals

Humans and animals, we share this earth together.

But as an animal advocate you’re judged. You’re judged because people think you care more about them than you do humans. Or that their worth is insignificant. Or that they don’t feel pain. To some people they are “just” animals. But to God they are HIS creatures, just as we are, and he never intended for the abuse that is afflicted upon them every day by humans.

As far as the caring more about animals than humans, it’s not about that. It’s about the fact that animals are being abused and are suffering and somebody has to help them.

I heard a story about two young guys who cut off a dog’s ears and then took a selfie. Continue reading

This Tuesday’s Tale: A Love Story

The tale of Lacy & Karma

What is the first thought that pops into your head when you see a Pitbull?

It’s not unreasonable that you might be a bit nervous and unsure around them given their reputation. You hear about them attacking people and other animals all of the time. There are all kinds of articles out there saying how dangerous they are, yet on the flip side there are articles that defend them.

Personally, I do not need an article to tell me what to think. I believe Pitbulls are taught by bad people to be dangerous. I hear stories about sweet Pitbulls that are beaten (and a lot worse) so they become mad & mean. Then they will fight for awful people in dog fighting rings.

What is wrong with people that watching two sweet, precious, living, feeling beings tear each other apart and to them it is entertainment?! (My rant for the day) Continue reading

An Interview With Me

I recently was part of an interview with another blogger. I participated in this because it is so important to me to get my message out there. What is my message?…

To respectfully bring attention to the treatment of animals in our society, how this was not in God’s plan for HIS creatures, that animals are living, feeling beings, and that we need to speak up and help them.

You can check out the interview here. You may get to know me a little better. There are also links to some of my previous posts in the interview that you may have not had the chance to read. Continue reading

A Freezing Dog…Not My Problem?

www.gohappiest.com

I didn’t plan a post tonight, but I came across this article and I was thinking…really? It’s that surprising?

The article is about a security camera catching a man going over to a stray dog out in the cold and giving him some food & taking off his own jacket to lay over the dog. Wonderful! This is a truly compassionate man.

This is the heading to the article: Continue reading

I’m King Of The World!

Man has dominion over the animals, so we can treat them however we want, right? (Of course, that would be a “no”)

Whether someone believes in God or not, how about compassion & empathy?

My recent post, Why I Am A Vegetarian looks at how farm animals are treated today. I truly believe if people actually took the time to find out what is happening to animals before they become “meat in the supermarket” they would reconsider what they are eating.

We have a “head in the sand” society when it comes to animals. What we see is the “laughing cow” and “happy cow” type commercials for companies selling their products. What we don’t see is the cruelty going on to the animals to create those products. Continue reading

U.S. Animal Protection Laws…We Need More Green

Here is where the United States is in the matter of “Animal Protection Laws.” As you can see from the map below, we need more green! This map is showing the United States, but there is work to be done for animals everywhere. Do you know what your current laws are?

Different Views, But Mine Can’t Be Wrong

Why I Am So Passionate About Helping Animals & Spreading The Word

Eye rolls, laughs, arguments, and comments; I’ve experienced them all as an animal advocate.

Are animal lovers rare? How would you define an animal lover? Can you be an animal lover and not get involved with animal welfare issues?

My opinion is animal lovers are not necessarily rare. Most people love them and have a pet in their family; a dog, cat, bird, or hamster maybe. I think most people are just simply unaware of the cruelty going on out there.

But there is another side, there are those who wouldn’t harm animals, but see them as “just animals.” “Just animals!” Because they are not the same as us, does not mean they have any less right to be here and to be treated with respect. Animals feel pain if you hit them, they bleed if they are hurt, they need food & water to survive, they get happy, sad, scared, stressed, & sick. I’m not seeing a lot of basic need differences. Animals Saving People

22WORDS

The New Year is almost here and I thought it appropriate to review some great animal stories. They are not necessarily just from 2016.

What I love about these stories is that not only are they about animals saving human lives, but that there is such a variety of animals. There are cats, dogs, a horse, pig, goat, whale, bird, and elephant. I was tearing up reading these stories because, to me, this shows that ALL animals are sweet, precious, loving, feeling beings.

I also was tearing up because I was thinking about how there are actually people out there who hurt these precious beings. I recently saw a post on Facebook about how some teenage boys “rented” a goat from a lady and how they abused him, smashing beer cans on his head. Continue reading

Pets Outside in the Cold-What Do We Do?

do-somethingAnimal Radio

I received a phone call this morning from someone who is concerned about a neighbor dog and they were looking for advice. The dog seems to be put outside whenever they are home and then brought inside whenever they leave. When the dog is outside it is put inside of a little fenced in square they have in the yard.

The concern isn’t so much about that, even though in my opinion, I don’t feel people should have a dog unless they are actually going to pay attention to it. It’s more about the nonstop barking for one. Although ignoring your pet is going to cause barking and other behavior issues (and who’s fault is this?…not the dog’s. Just saying). The other concern is, it just turned very cold here, and the dog is being left in the cold for hours at a time. This dog has no doghouse to go into and there are no leaves on trees anymore to block the brutal winds. Continue reading
