Fish…Yes They Are Feeling Beings Too

One fish, two fish
Red fish, blue fish
We must show compassion
To all fish, all fish

fish-aafbtI found an amazing write up about one guys experience with a goldfish. It started off as just a routine giving a little goldfish named Flash food everyday. Until he decided Continue reading

Saving A Turtle In The Road

Helping another living creature is no small thing, it is saving a life!

The other day when I was coming home from work I noticed something in the road. I drove up slowly to get a look and saw that it was a little turtle inside it’s shell. I pulled over from this busy street to go take a look. I was trying to see if he was still alive, had a broken shell, or what the situation was. Then all of a sudden I saw some movement come from inside the shell and I realized it was his little head moving around. I think he was trying to get a peek at me! 🙂

Introducing The New Look

A new banner for Animals Are Feeling Beings Too has been in the making for about a year now. It has been a challenge coming up with the right combination for the whole look. It is at a point where I am comfortable publishing it and can say to you all the new blog look is here!

Sunday Pause (Paws): Changes

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and maybe consider making a change.

Change can be hard, but it can also be good. It depends on what kind of change it is. We usually make changes when we feel the need. It’s good to take some time every now & then to reflect on any areas of our lives we may need to change.

The change I am making and want to share with you (with the help of Cino) is to my blog website.

Pay It Forward

Today is “Pay It Forward” day.

A quote I saw on Facebook: “If you want more kindness in the world, put it out there.” So true!

Personally, I  spent years just being mad and complaining about the things I really hated about this world. Thank God I realized THAT doesn’t do any good. Change happens when we take action.

Of course my passion is helping animals. I feel like they are the forgotten. Thought of as not important by many. It’s taken me a long time to figure out HOW to help animals, but then came my blog (you can read more about this on my About page). Even still I find myself Continue reading

For Sale

I have a hard time when I see things like horse auctions, animals for sale at a flea market, and puppy mills where the focus is on making money. It may be the way the world is, but that doesn’t mean it’s right. There is a lot wrong with this world, I’m sure you agree with that.

We sell animals, living beings. I sit back and I think what would the creator of all the animals think of this? If I asked him “is this what you intended?” I think he would say “no.” If I asked him “does dominion over animals mean we can do whatever we please with them?”, I think he would say “no.” If I asked him “do you see animals as property?”, I think he would say “no.” Continue reading

A Dog Forced In An Overhead Bin

Being an animal advocate I can’t pass by the hot topic right now concerning a precious dog who lost his life on an airplane.  This little 10 month old puppy’s life was lost tragically. A flight attendant forced passengers to put their dog in the over head bin. If you haven’t heard about this, the video below will explain.

We Won! (So The Animals Win Too)

Hello all!

Some of you know that I absolutely love the Red Rover Readers program! I have talked about it before here on my blog. I want so much to make a difference in this world for animals. I always pray that there will be more and stronger laws. But then when I think about this program, I think maybe we need to focus more on human beings and how they treat animals instead of solely relying on the law to take care of it. After all, when the law steps in the damage has already been done.

The Red Rover Readers program is all about teaching empathy. Empathy to animals ultimately helps human beings. As I have pointed out in other posts of mine, there is research that proves the link between animal cruelty and human violence. Children are our future, so we need to start with them to make a change.

Some of you also know I work at a place that cares for children. I took the Red Rover Readers course a few years ago and have been working on implementing it in the classrooms. Just last week one of the classrooms & I read one of the books that is part of this program to the children and held a discussion with the children about how they think the dog felt by looking at his face/posture. I took a picture per the instructions for a drawing, sent it in, and we won!

Polly the Opossum

Someone I know shared the following pictures of an opossum that frequently visited her and her family for a season.

polly-can-editedAAFBT

This opossum started showing up on Sylvia’s deck one winter. It didn’t take long to realize she was trying to get into the barbecue grill figuring she could smell the grease. Sylvia decided to go on the internet to see what possums liked to eat. Then Sylvia started putting food in a can and Continue reading

Why I Do What I Do

As an animal advocate it can be frustrating feeling like you have to defend yourself. When people don’t feel the same passion that you do about, anything really, it is hard for them to understand. To me, when it comes to something like the well-being of another living being, I truly can’t understand how they can’t feel the same way. So as you can see, the “not understanding” goes both ways.
