WWJND?

WWJD became popular in the US in the 1990’s. It was all the rage among Christians. It stands for “What Would Jesus Do?”

This Easter weekend I was thinking about animals and WWJND…”What Would Jesus Not Do?”

Just one of the many things us humans are doing wrong. We are definitely a society in need of saving. Thank God he did just that! This is what Easter is all about.

Chocolate Rabbits Instead of Real Rabbits

Easter is almost here and sadly many people think a rabbit is a great gift for their child. They are not a thing that should be thought of as a gift or object to be given for a holiday.

Sadly most people don’t do the research to find out what is required to have a rabbit as a pet. They actually require A LOT of care to be happy and healthy. I am an animal advocate and I had no idea how much care they required until a friend of mine adopted one.

Because of the impulsiveness to get a rabbit on Easter people aren’t educated on the proper care care which leads to a lot of neglected, returned, or abandoned rabbits.

Sunday Pause (Paws): Animal Paladin

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, read a little poem and meet Cino as dun, dun, dun, dun…Animal Paladin!

(In case you don’t know, because I didn’t, Paladin means leading champion of a cause, hero, devoted to kindness.)

TRYING TO SAVE THE DAY

Animals of all sizes and shapes,
The dogs, cats, lions, and apes

Sunday Pause (Paws): Cino’s Prayer

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and how about saying a prayer.

I made a new cartoon image of Cino. Since our goal with this blog is to advocate for animals I thought I would introduce the image with Cino in prayer.

That’s exactly what I want…no more abuse! Unfortunately, that may not happen in this Continue reading

Sunday Pause (Paws): Poetry Read Aloud

It’s Sunday! Time to kick back, relax, and enjoy a poetry reading by me.

If you have been following me for a while you most likely know that I am always trying new things such as photography, editing, poetry and now the newest…making videos/reading aloud. With these new things I still always have animal advocacy in mind. I’m sure I have a lot to learn yet but through some online research about poetry I found that it is important to read it aloud. The following was taken from dummies.com.

The music of poetry — that is, its sounds and rhythms — isn’t just for the eye and the mind, it’s meant to be given voice.

I never really thought about it but I get it because that is exactly what I have to do. To tell how the “flow” of a poem is going I have to read it out loud to myself as I am writing it.

Now reading them aloud while recording…that’s another thing and it’s not an easy task. Aside of the Dr. Seuss type of short story/rhyme I wrote, read aloud, and posted last Sunday (which is probably more geared towards children and I actually did read it to the children where I work this past week) this is only my second time recording myself. So although it may not be perfect I created the following video from a poem I wrote last year called “Butterfly Wings.”

I hope you enjoyed it. Comments welcomed and encouraged to help me learn & grow.

Happy Sunday!

If You See It, Don’t Ignore It

With this week’s insanely cold temperatures I worried every day & night about any animals out there. I can’t stand the thought of a dog hooked to a chain, a bunny stuck in a cage, or cat being left outside to endure the temperatures when there is a warm house feet away. When people choose to leave their pets outside during these dangerous temperatures, let’s face it, the animal’s life is at stake.

If you see this…do something.

Teaching Empathy Saves Lives

I‘m sure most of you have heard about the abduction of the Wisconsin girl, Jayme. As we’re finding out more & more about it all, it has been told that the man who abducted her had killed a dog and had an obsession with road kill. You see my passion for animals isn’t just about my love for animals, it’s something we should all be paying attention to. Research has proven when children show signs of no empathy for animals and harm them, they most likely are just “experimenting/testing” and will move on to humans. This is why I am so passionate about educating children (and everyone) about how important it is to “pay attention” and teach empathy, kindness, & respect to animals. It could just save a life!

We Have A Choice

I recently created the image below to post on Facebook. Then in my “Facebook Memories” I was reminded of a poem I wrote last year. So I put the image and the poem together and walah…a blog post. 🙂

WHY I DO WHAT I DO

People often wonder
Why I do what I do
I say they wouldn’t be asking
If they knew what I knew

Seen as “one of those”
But do they know our case
Animals are living, feeling beings
Have you looked close into their face?

All Are In His Plan

Sometimes I create images that say it all for the post.

Even THEY have been in his plan. The question is are our eyes & ears open to what role we are to play in their life?
